What Does Meaningful Local Impact Really Look Like?

Too often, charitable impact is measured in headlines or short-term wins. At the Ian & Clare Mattioli Charitable Trust, we think about impact differently.

Over the past year, we’ve focused on backing projects that strengthen the fabric of communities — socially, educationally and physically — and that will still matter decades from now.

From education pathways that open doors for young people, to spaces of sanctuary and remembrance, our approach is rooted in long-term commitment rather than one-off gestures.

Between April 2024 and April 2025, the Trust distributed over £200,000 to organisations working across education, wellbeing, homelessness, heritage and community development. Behind those figures are real people, real places, and real futures shaped by sustained support .

Whether it’s helping restore a city landmark so it remains open and accessible to everyone, or investing in a young person who may be the first in their family to consider university, our guiding principle remains the same: support work that changes trajectories, not just outcomes.

Impact, for us, is about what endures.
