Leicestershire Police Memorial & Wellbeing Garden Nears Completion

The transformation of the Leicestershire Police Memorial & Wellbeing Garden is entering its final stages, with the newly landscaped space now largely complete ahead of an anticipated handover this summer.

The project, supported by the Ian & Clare Mattioli Charitable Trust alongside a number of local and national supporters, including generous gifts from the Samworth Foundation, the Police Benevolent Fund, NFDC, K2 Polymers and Merlin Properties - has created a peaceful and reflective environment designed to serve police officers, staff, families and visitors for generations to come.

The redeveloped garden now features beautifully landscaped planting, new seating areas, memorial spaces and sheltered pergolas, creating a calm setting for both remembrance and wellbeing. Final works will include the installation of remembrance plaques on the memorial wall and the arrival of the dedicated Police Dog Memorial statue.

Already, the impact of the space is being felt.

Hellen Jackson, Senior Communications and Campaigns Officer for Leicestershire Police, said:

“The garden is wonderful and it is great to see people sat in it now the warmer weather is here just relaxing, taking some time out and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.”

The garden has been designed not only as a place of remembrance, but also as somewhere that promotes reflection, wellbeing and quiet connection for those who serve the communities of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

The Ian & Clare Mattioli Charitable Trust is proud to have supported a project that honours the past while creating a lasting legacy for the future.
