Aylestone Park Football Club

The Trust has supported Aylestone Park Football club by donating funds to develop a brand new 500 seat grandstand at their home on Saffron Lane in Leicester.

About the Cause

Aylestone Park Football Club was founded in 1968 by a group of boys from a local Methodist Church Youth Club. The Club joined the Leicestershire Youth League playing in the Under 18 division. Within three years there were five teams at various age groups based on Aylestone Park Recreation Ground. In 2000 the club were awarded the Football Association Charter Club Status acknowledging the standards not only achieved on the pitch but also the administration of the club and implementation of National Policy relating to Child Protection and Health and Safety. This was followed in 2003 by the award of Community Club Status, the first of many Leicester City based clubs to have achieved this most prestigious accolade. Over the years our ground has been used by The Fosse Day Centre for People with disabilities, The Special Needs European Championships, The Victims of Crime Support Scheme, The Royal Society for the Blind, British Heart Foundation, and Special Needs Sports. As part of the Club's development there were asked to form an Inclusive Section for young people with Physical and Learning Difficulties. Again they became the first Leicestershire Club to have its own Inclusive Section catering for the sporting needs of 30 members each Friday Evening. The club is proud of its' workforce of 64 active volunteers, management committee, Club offices and Trustees who have created a legacy to be proud of in developing a club run by the community for the benefit of the community.

Objectives In March 2021 at the height of the pandemic the Club announced its intention to develop plans to create a new 500 seater Grandstand with and additional 200 standing spaces as well as plans for a new turnstile entrance. After considerable work to plan the project and secure both materials and labour during a difficult year the project commenced in June 2021 and was completed at the end of October 2021.
